Born in November 19, 1967, american writer Ruta Sepetys was always intrigued by her Lithuanian heritage. It always has been part of her identity. Her love for history and stories molded her writing, and she became a writer of historical fiction.
The novel Between Shades of Gray is her strongly complimented debut novel. This novel was inspired by the untold stories of both the survivors and the victims of the Genocide of the Baltic People commanded by Joseph Stalin. Her second book, Out of the Easy, will be finished in 2013.
Other than writing, Ruta loves art and music; she had established the Sepetys Entertainment group and is on the board of both the Board of Advisors for the Mike Curb College and Entertainment and Music Business at Belmont University.
Even though Ruta had traveled to 42 countries, she has stopped her traveling and decided to settle down in Tennessee where she currently lives with her family.
